Interesting. Because of the "price of anarchy" when it comes to individual drivers trying to minimize their personal travel time, closing roads along a route can actually make everything more efficient during rush hour.
See...expanding roads isn't necessarily the solution!

That is interesting. I often take routes that are longer, but slightly less popular and thus less congested. I don't know if it really saves time, but it certainly saves irritation.
Maybe there should be a study on why I'd rather spend an hour on a surface street than 45 minutes in traffic on the freeway!
